Eagles 2015 Bald eagles in the Alton and Grafton, Illinois area were really different this season. While there were a lot, they were active flying way out of range or eating out on the ice flows - also out of range. We noticed quite a bit of territorial fighting among the eagles this year that we'd not noticed before. You'll see some of the first photo sets on this gallery shows a lot of scrappy behavior.

All in all, it is always good to spend time watching some of God's most majestic creatures in its own habitat!

Fall Colors Great weather and the colors were just coming into bloom.

Not too many bridges in these photos - we were enjoying the scenery and the peace and quiet!

Kansas Back Roads We started in Ottawa, KS and wound our way through the countryside and ended up back in Ottawa. Sounds simple enough, but the landscapes, floral and scenery was pure Kansas. Sunflowers in bloom, farms active, crops in full tilt and the weather was perfect for a day in the country.

Enjoy these 90+ shots! Be sure to look for the little things . . . like the small critters on or around the flowers! Nature at her best.

Fountains Kansas City is known for the fountains - especially at the Plaza. But I'v found that the fountains at Unity Village are incredible and well worth your time if you find yourself nearby.

Waterfalls These come from a variety of locations, primarily the Arboretum in Overland Park, KS and Forest Park in St. Louis, MO. Others from wherever I've found them. I like the time lapse for being able to create a sense of passing, flowing - some call it "angel hair" look.

One thing for sure - each one is as different as the droplets that make up the falls and the way they come over the rocks.

Grand Falls at Shoal Creek Missouri

Great day trip from KC!

Grand Falls, on Shoal Creek, is one of Missouri’s most scenic destinations. The largest, continuously flowing natural waterfall in Missouri, Grand Falls plunges 25 feet to a solid ledge before flowing southward.

Yes, people do wade out into the river and jump off!

Fireworks This is one of my favorites times of the year, but it only lasts one evening . . . although this year there were two!

Fireworks are loud, large, dramatic, colorful and one of the most beautiful things to photograph. Like snowflakes each one is different. No matter that the same type of design comes several times during a performance, you can never capture it identically twice. Photographers all shooting the same image will start at a different time and from different angles making each one unique.

Please enjoy these from Legacy Park in Lees Summit, MO (July 4) and Corporate Woods Park in Overland Park, KS (July 4). I had a great time taking them!

Covered Bridges Parke County Indiana is the Covered Bridge Mecca for those who appreciate such structures.

Rockville, Indiana is host to the annual Covered Bridges Festival each October.

I'd still like to be there some time when it snows so I can complete the look of the bridges from summer and fall to the white covered look of winter.

Butterflies These butterflies are from the Butterfly House in St. Louis, Missouri. The Sophia M. Sachs Butterfly House is a butterfly zoo operated by the Missouri Botanical Gardens, and located in Faust Park in Chesterfield, Missouri. The Butterfly House is accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums.

You can find it in Faust Park on Olive Street Road just north of I-64 near Chesterfield Mall. It's a part of the Missouri Botanical Gardens.

Jellyfish We visited the Omaha Zoo and found the entire experience well worth the time we spent.

Part of their underwater/aquarium exhibit are the jellyfish and other seemingly delicate animals that live under the sea and are rarely seen.

Please enjoy these photos and if you ever get the chance - the Omaha Zoo should be one of your destination places.

The Old Mill - Little Rock Arkansas (From their web site - says it better than I can rewrite!)

An authentic reproduction of an old water-powered grist mill, this striking structure appears in the opening scene of the classic 1939 film Gone with the Wind and is believed to be the only building remaining from the film. Built in 1933; designed to look old so it would appear as if it was built the 1800s. The park is decorated with sculptures of toadstools, tree stumps, and a tree branch-entwined bridge that connects the mill to the rest of the park. Senor Dionico Rodriguez, a sculptor and artist of Mexico City, was responsible for all the details of each piece of concrete work made to represent wood, iron or stone, as well as the designing of the foot bridges and rustic seats. The Old Mill is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

A new beginning This is not just a new web page for my photos, but my very first blog and blog entry as well! I'll be interested to read the comments from a certain daughter of mine about that subject.

I promise there won't be any minute-by-minute dissection of my day, but I will post some things about the various places of a shoot; the good, the bad and the ugly of certain sites and any recommendations I might have for you if you choose to visit there.

Thanks for reading, now back to the viewfinder!
